Friend of a friend

May 20th - update..... from friend of the family... still waiting news on the girl
Thank you. Baby Issac has left us to be with the lord. Please continue to keep them in your prayers.

This is a request from a friend of a friend.... (I believe this woman to be a part of the Moms of Multiples of JOCO). When I have more info, and a name I will update.
This is her request.

"I am a true believer in the power of prayer and the devine healing.
I won't go into details, but a friend of mine who has been on hospital
bedrest for 2 months delivered her b/g babies last night at 27 weeks.
I was told today that the baby boy has suffered a Pulmonary Embolism
and the Dr's are working on him now. This is all the information that
I have at this point, but PLEASE keep her, the babies, and her family
in your prayers."

Hope Isabella Reasons

April 29, 2010
There is an update on Hope Isabella's blog.... please keep Jamie, Josh and thier family in your prayers. They received some devestating news today. I know they would appreciate it.

http://hopeisabella.blogspot.com/

written by Jamie "we got our test results back yesterday on Baby Hope. It was what we were expecting to hear but hoping we wouldn't. She has been diagnosed with Thanatophoric Dysplasia, which is a fatal diagnosis. In most cases with these circumstances the baby lives a few hours after birth. It is very sad news BUT... we know God is in control and will be glorified through this!! We are learning so much and pray we can be a light to others going through rough times too. "

April 25, 2010
I would like to share a prayer request.. and a very inspirational take on a new challenge for a friend of mine. Jamie Reasons and her husband Josh recently found out that the new baby they are expecting will most likely have a dwarf'ism condition. I will not even attempt to put into words what she herself can say so ...beautifully and faithfully. Please read their story... they have a long road ahead. http://hopeisabella.blogspot.com/

Archer and River - Twin Boys

April 16th - from family friend Jan
Here's an update on baby River Cheney.....Praise God... he came home from the hospital and was at church today (Sunday - May 16th) ! Of course still very tiny, but making progress everyday.God is so good!!! On behalf of Allyson and Matt, thank you so much for the prayers.

April 21st - from Dad
Matt and Allyson, and their families, are deeply grateful for your prayers, love, hugs and care giving provided throughout the pregnancy. Especially since River and Archer's arrival last Thursday, April 15. It's amazing!

At approximately 12:50 PM today, April 20, Archer went home to be with our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. His death was peaceful. He is now completely whole!

The family and staff gathered with Matt and Allyson beside the NICU crib to celebrate Archer's life. Though he was with us only a short time, his life will have a lasting impact on us. We also sought the comfort which only God through His presence within believers and His Word provides. We dedicated Archer Courage Cheney to our Lord with the great anticipation of a family reunion in the future.

River continues to gain strength. His day to day progress is within the scope of care expected with a 32+ week preemie.

Also, Allyson was discharged last night, Monday, and is doing very well.

As more details are available, they will be communicated.

Again, thank you.
Greg C.

April 19th - from family friend - No news this morning, but Baby Archer is still with the family. God is so good.

As of 8:30 pm April 16th -
Here's the latest on Baby Archer.
Baby Archer is on life support right now. He can't breathe on his own; and he suffered brain trauma in utero. The family has some decisions to make, but they want the Aunts and Uncles to arrive in town tomorrow before they do anything. I'm sure by the end of the wkend, he'll be home with Jesus. I'll let you know. The doctors did say the fact that both of the babies were actually born alive, is a miracle in itself. These mono amniotic babies often don't survive to even be born. So God was definately watching over them.

Thank you so much for your prayers. The family has expressed how much they appreciate how the prayers for the babies have covered the globe.

Thank you

____________________________________________________________________________________

Please pray for Archer and River. They are baby boy twins.. and Archer is having some complications and the next 24 - 48 hrs are very important. I will post more when more info arrives. Thank you in advance.

Mama Andrea

Posted from Mama Andrea's friend Melissa (1-4-10)

My friend, Andrea, is 35 weeks pregnant with their first child, Cooper. She's had a great pregnancy, with the normal annoyances and thrills. Over the New Year's weekend, she began having some odd pains, as well as some Braxton Hicks-type contractions. She was concerned, but her doctor didn't seem that concerned, so I think she was trying to calm herself with that knowledge, along with the fact that she already had an appointment scheduled for this morning.

I don't know what prompted the doctor to send her to the hospital, but she is now there, being monitored for 24 hours, showing signs of preeclampsia. If the symptoms subside, she will be sent home, but if they persist or worsen, they will induce labor and deliver little Cooper. We all know how each day is so critical for the development of these precious little ones. Please pray for Andrea, her husband, Jason, and little Cooper. Thank you!

Aven Hunter

Just wanted to update. Aven contracted some kind of infection that he was unable to survive. He got sick early yesterday morning and passed away that afternoon. We appreciate the prayers for the family.
Grandma Debbie

Request made by Aven's Grandmother Debbie Goins

"My grandson, Aven Hunter was born in Anchorage, Alaska (my son & his wife are in the Air Force stationed in Fairbanks, AK) on June 23, 2009 at 24 weeks, 1 day. They had to do an emergency C-section because he was showing signs of infection/distress. Her amniotic sac had ruptured at 17 weeks. The doctors didn't give them much hope of making it to a point of viability for the baby, but prayer got them there. The day after she was airlifted to Anchorage (the only NICU in AK, I understand) they prepared the kids for the worst. With surfactants (and steroids given 3 days before his birth) the doctors were able to resuscitate Aven. He has chronic lung disease, Pulmonary Interstitial Emphesema, but hasn't had to spend too much time on the ventilator. He is currently on the nasal cannula, but they haven't much success in turning down the flow. I think he's on around 50% oxygen, but the flow has been turned down from 7 to 6. He was 1 lb. 4 oz. when he was born and 10.5 inches long. Now he is about 4 pounds and 15 inches long. He has only grown about 1 cm in the past month. The doctors are doing some tests today to see if he has congestive heart failure. He had a heart ultrasound when I was there in July and the cardiologist said his heart was fine. I don't really know what could be the cause, so I don't know how they would treat it if he does have it. Please pray. Cody & Stephanie are up there by themselves and Cody is in line to be deployed to Iraq in December. Aven will most likely come home from the hospital sometime in October or November - depending, of course, upon any complications between now and then. He is 36 weeks gestational age today. He loves his pacifier but can't try feedings yet because of the airflow level from his oxygen.
He had laser eye surgery about a week ago for ROP and the post-surgery exam showed an improvement. He also has Plus Disease in his eyes, which is somehow related to the ROP. Doctors are watching that as treatment is not necessary at this point, but may be later. They are trying to get transferred to the AF Base in Anchorage so they'll be closer to the care he'll need. There is no pulmonary specialist (or probably cardiologist) in Fairbanks. It is about a 7 hour drive from Anchorage."

Mama Sharon & Baby Elaina

on May 25th.
From her mom again:

She is doing well. This week she was moved to the step-down NICU and is starting to take a bottle. She doesn't get much. She's 33 weeks gestational and they say she's doing great and around 34-36 weeks is when the breathe, suck, swallow should develop. She's 4lbs and 7 oz and they can not detect any brain, heart or breathing problems. I may be biased, but she's pretty darn cute! Oh, I got to give her a bath yesterday and she loved soaking in the tub. I was nervous as heck though... praying that I didn't drop the slippery little munchkin. Thanks for the thoughts!
_____________________________________________________________________________________

This was written on 11 May:
I wanted to give an update on my little girl. She's now 3 weeks old (31.5 weeks gestational age). She has gained over a lb and is now 3 lbs and 12 ounces. On a baby her size, you can really tell she's filled out. She is off the ventalator and beginning to digest the food better. She was having some problems with that. She was also having a lot of episodes where she would forget to breathe, but that is also getting better. She has an infection, which was causing her to have trouble with the breathing and digesting and they are treating her with antibiotics. I got to hold her on mother's day and it was so sweet! They say I'll be able to hold her more now that she is doing better. The nurses made me a tiny t-shirt with Elaina's footprints. It was so sweet. My first mother's day present!!!

Thanks for the prayers. Sharon

4-25-09 update from family friend

Sharon is doing much better and has been released from the hospital. She was also able to see Elaina finally, and said it is difficult to see her hooked up to all those wires, tubes, etc, without even being able to hold her. She is focused on staying strong and pumping milk for Elaina, since that is really the only thing she can do for her right now.

They have also received wonderful news from the doctor. He says that Elaina is a small and immature baby, but not at all a sick baby. She is thriving and is up to 2.88 pounds now and they have lowered her ventilator use even more. I don't know when she was put on the vent, but a decreased need for it is obviously wonderful! She said they are also increasing the amount of mama's milk they are giving her at her feedings, which is also a great sign.

Thank you all for your continued prayers for this family! Those of us who've had a baby in the NICU can relate to the fear of a parent's heart, and the unique experience of scrubbing and gowning up, only to WATCH your baby lie there with all those wires and tubes. However, those who've actually had their own child born so prematurely can relate in a completely different way, and it must be very personal for you to pray for these precious ones.

4-19-09
I just got an update!

Born at 28 weeks...Baby Elaina was born at 11:43 A.M., at 2 lbs 7 oz, and is BREATHING ON HER OWN! Mom and baby are both doing well. Please continue to keep Sharon, Jerry, and Baby Elaina in your prayers. God is so good!!

4-19-09 *****More info to come shortly************
From family friend Melissa - one of my fellow submarine wives, Sharon (and her husband Jerry), began having problems with preeclampsia last week. They were able to get things under control, but kept her in the hospital as a precaution. They did a sonogram Friday, which showed that her baby girl was still doing well. Then her blood pressure spiked suddenly and last we heard, they were going to take the baby Sunday (today). They are located in Jacksonville, FL.
I would appreciate it if you'd add this family, as well as the medical professionals, to your blog. We all know there is power in prayer, and knowing there are people all over praying, even people you don't know, is healing in and of itself!

Thank you!
Melissa

Please pray for Baby Seth's Family

4-17-09
Baby Seth was diagnosed with anecephaly while in the womb. This is a condition where the brain does not develop. He lived for 12 hours, and in that time his family was able to hold him and take some very valuable pictures.

Bath Seth's parents are Matt and P.J. and his sister is 16 mo. old.

I just got a message that PJ's dad was the one holding Seth when he passed away. He held him while the nurse worked on his little chest, etc., and he's having a REALLY difficult time of it. He keeps apologizing to PJ for not being able to stop it. Please remember him as well. She doesn't have her mom anymore, so that means her dad doesn't have her to comfort him through this either. It's just so sad.

Babies Beckett and Bryce

the boys weighed 10.9 (Beckett) and 10.4 (Bryce) and are doing very well. We are still on monitors until at least March 11 when we go to the doctor again.

update on 11/6/08 from Melissa (Mother's Friend)

Just thought i would let you know the boys are doing wonderfully. There is a good chance that they will both be able to go home this weekend. Please be praying that they both stay healthy and that this can happen. Also, Erin is quitting her job to stay home with the boys, please be praying for her and David; as some of you know going from working full time to staying home full time can take some adjusting (both emotionally and financially). Please also just prya that God would bless this little family in the weeks, months and years ahead. I have attached there halloween pics (she got there costumes at build a bear), its too cute!

The boys are doing great! They are now one month and 5 days old. They are both eating an ounce every 3 hours. They've added a fortifier to my milk to add some calories and the boys have steadily been gaining weight on it. Bryce is 3.9 and Beckett is 3.8. Beckett has been taken off the nasal cannula today and we get to start putting clothes on them now. They really are doing so well. Bryce's doctor thinks he might be having some reflux which might explain why he's still having so many A's & B's so they've started him on Prilosec and Beckett as well but mainly to just nip anything in the bud before it starts. We are doing good. We're pretty tired most days as you can imagine but we're managing.

BRYCE (top picture) BECKETT (2nd picture)

Posted by friend of mama Erin (Melissa) here is what mom has to say...
I just wanted to let everyone know that the boys are still doing good! They are both on the vent c-pap and both are having bradycardia episodes where they will just drop their heart rate for no reason at all. Beckett is having a ton more than Bryce so I suspect he'll be put back on the vent which won't make him happy since learning he can scream at all the nurses when they mess with him. Its the sweetest but most pitiful sound I've ever heard. But they are both breathing at the very lowest oxygen setting they can be put on and stating at a 100 on oxygen so that is a great thing! The boys are gaining some weight as well. Bryce is now 2 lbs 10 oz and Beckett is 2 lbs 9 oz. The amount of breast milk they get has increased slightly and now Bryce has been moved to a 3 hour schedule instead of 4 so the little guy will probably pork up now. Beckett had his 2nd blood transfusion the other day and his doctor pulled us aside and actually confessed that they messed up on his weight so he got too much blood but not enough to compromise his health so now they are revising the way they do things for babies who get blood! So I'm a little freaked out about that! It probably explains why the little man has been so puffy this week. Poor baby can barely open his eyes they are so swollen! They are now 15 days old and I'm just in shock. When I look at them, I still can't believe they are here. Their little lives are going by so fast! I just want it to slow down so that I can soak up every second I can.I'm sorry that this bulletin is so long but I could talk about my little guys for hours and not get sick of it so thank you for reading my update!

Original Announcement:
Bryce & Beckett were born Friday night at 27.6 weeks gestation.
They are doing well and will be in the NICU until their Nov 29th due date.

Beckett Park (baby A) was born at 5:10 pm on 9-5. He weighed 2lbs 6 oz and 13 inches long. He had been breathing really well on his own since birth but is still intubated and getting some oxygen but not 100% of the time.

Bryce David (B) was born at 5:11 pm on 9-5. He weighed 2lbs 15 oz and 13 1/2 inches long. He had a little more difficulty breathing at first and was requiring a lot more oxygen but he was extubated today and is now breathing with c-pap on his own and we are so thrilled.

Thank you to all for your thoughts and prayers. I will post updates as things change. We've been told that we are in the honeymoon period where things are good for right now and that there will be set backs but its to be expected so we shouldn't get upset if they have to go back on oxygen or have 'bad' days were they just need more help than they've needed. Its one day at a time right now. They are absolutely gorgeous and we are so in love with them.

Bedrest Mama - Lydia

Lydia Dunn, in Nashville, is hospitalized right now. She is having twins, is not quite 28 weeks, and having lots of problems. They are trying to prevent her from going into labor, as the twins are really small yet. Her husband is in the military and scheduled to go to Iraq soon. This is their first baby (babies), and they are very scared. (As would anyone be.) She is from a Christian family and has lots of support from them, but would really appreciate our prayers.

Baby Grace

In loving Memory of Baby Grace -

Friday september 12th we were called to have a care meeting with all the doctors, a social worker and a chaplan. I thought to my self something might be bad.Sure enought the doctors made me make the biggest decison of my life. Grace had been at 100% oxygen all week and nothing they were trying was really rasing her levels to much. Thrursday I got to hold her for the first time in two weeks. I read to her and she did so good. They sadi that she was on max level of medication and respiratory therepy. They wanted us to realize that she was having brain failure and lung failure and begining to develope cist on her brain from not getting enough oxygen. They wanted us to be there if something happened to her in the middle of the night and wanted us to make the decison wether or not to make her suffer. We called of our family and this week my mom happened to go to Branson for vaction, and my dad works in Pennsylvania and my little sis lives in Dallas. SHe was baptised when my mother arive at about 3:45 pm, then all my aunts and unlces and friends came as we waited for my dad and sis to arrive. I could tell the Gracie just did not feel good and she was holding on to say goodbye to everyone. Her Oxygen dropped into the 30's and her heart rate was in the 50"s as they were preparing for Trevor and I to hold her one last time. My dad and sis arrived at 11:00 and got to spend about two hours with her. Trevor held her then I did. After alll the goodbyes adn a day full of sweet memories we took the ventilator out at 1:48 am and said our good byes to our sweet litle Grace. She went life less fast but her heart did not stop till 15 mins had past then my sweet little one went to see Jesus at 2:12 am on Saturday morning the morning of her aunt's 24th birthday. I knew she was relying on the vent when I realized how fast her heart stopped and how she went life less, I did not want her to suffer. I do have a sense of peace of things know. Her memorial was sunday night and it was so beautifull. Gracie came to me to help me realize i need to take care of my self and then I can try again when we are ready.God works in mysterious ways but I know that Grace was a blessing to our family for the short 7 weeks and 4 days that she lived.Grace Ellen Howard 7-22-08 to 9-13-08

Update from Mama on 9/8/08
We made a big move this week and know we are at Childrens Mercy Hospital so she can be closer to the Cardiologist. She went back on the ventilator and is not maintaining her oxygen levels very well. She needs surgury but they wont consider it till she is 6 lbs at least. The change has been very hard on all of us . We were getting used to the nurses and the schedules and know we have to start all over again. Please continue to pray for us.

Update from Mama on 8/29./08
She is still not doing well on her CPAP and her oxygen keeps falling a lot and they have her all the way at 100% . I was wondering if you could pass my email address on the Benjamins mom so that we could chat a little I have some questions for her. I love the isolettes bumper cards and so do the nurses. Keep us in your prayers please. I am starting to become more and more emotional as the days go on.
Chandra

Update from Mama on 8/28/08
She is 2 lbs 4 ozs and she is doing just fine they still have her on the CPAP and they have been adjusting her oxygen levels each day she changes a little. No real new news we just have to pray that she keeps gaining weight.

Update from Mama on 8/13/08
Grace had been taking a couple steps back this week. She was placed on a CPAP due to oxygen levels faling a lot and today we found out she has congestive heart failure and her heart in enlarged because it is working to hard. Please keep us in your prayers and we are riding this emotional roller coaster.
Chandra

Update from Mama on 8/7/08
Grace is 2lbs and 2 oxz and they are still increasing her feedings and will soon take out her IV if she continues to do good with her feedings. She is still having bradycardios when she forgets to breath but she is down to only about three a night. Her oxygen levels fall every once in a while due to the oxygen in her heart mixing together but hopefully she will grow out of both of them. Please continue to pray that her heart gets stronger and that the two holes heal around her due date of October.

Note from Mama -Grace was born on the 22nd of july because I developed precalmpsia and my blood pressure was really high and they had to enduce me because her heart rate went down then they took her emergency cecection at the last minute, because they did not want any more stress for her. I did not know that I had preclampsia and I guesss it was starting to get bad and it is a good thing I started bleeding a little the 17th and went to the hopital to make sure everything was ok. I was checked in and wactched untill they decided to enduce.I held her on Sunday the27th for the first time I tucked her in to my hospital gown and she was like a little papose on my chest it was so awesome, dad held her later that night and then the next day grandma did as well. I am in heaven when I hold her. I am very lucky because she is not on oxygen or a ventalator and so she is breathing on her ownand has been since the second day. I will get a picture soon for you on me and grandma holding her.I would love to share more any time. Chandra Howard

My daughter Grace was born July 22nd at 1lb 15 oz and 13 inches long. She is so small but so precious. She is at St. Lukes on the Plaza. I was just release yesterday to come home. I got to hold Grace for the first time on Sunday and she is know eating a whole tablespoon every three hours She is doing so well. Here is a picture of Grace on the day she was born.

I was told to check out this site by a friend. I want to read more about updates on others and be able to post my story as well .

Baby Benjamin

Last picture (I belive it was for Halloween). Benjamin is doing very well. What a blessing he is :) He is hopefully going to get off of his oxygen soon.

Update 9/15/07 Guess what? Last Saturday when we supposed to bring Little Benji home, he has some issues again with his oxygen, his heart rate went low also...........so he is still at the hospital, please help us pray for him, he doesn't have any infection so they don't know what's going on.

Update 9/12/08 Let me tell you that we are so happy because Benjamin is coming home Saturday!!!!
I'll email you again with all the details later on.

Thanks for your prayers again...........

Berenice

Update 9-1-08 We are very blessed, Benny is on a nasal canula on 0.4 liters! We are progressing well, I am breast feeding once in a while and he is also taking bottle feeds. He now weighs 5 lb 11 oz.
God is Great and we praise him because he has shown us time and time again his mercy.

Update 8-29-08 Benjamin is out of the C-Pap, and he is on high flow (I don't know if I'm writing those word right) we are so happy, he is been doing great!!! He is 5 lb 8 oz today!!!

UPDATE - 8-6-08 Benjamin is up to 4 lbs and is weaning from his ventalitor! YEA

Update 7-27-08 an e-mail updated from his mama

We're at the hospital right now (10:30 pm on the 26th) , and it's Louie's first time to hold Benjamin!!, He is so excited, I took a lot of pictures of my "two men" together.

You are not going to believe how well he is doing, and we for sure now that is just because God is answering the prayers of a lot of people, thank you so much for been one of them and more important, for been one who is encouraging other people to do the same........thank you so much!!! He is breathing better and the Doctor is doing some changes on the ventilator trying to make him breath more by himself, they started yesterday and today at midnight they're going to decrease it a little bit more.............so we'll see tomorrow how is he doing.

Take care and again: Thank you for your help and your prayers.

Berenice.

One of our Original Dreemie Preemie's needs our prayers. Baby Benjamin born mid June at 1 lb 12 oz - thankfully now up to about 3 lbs. is still having a very difficult time breathing. Last night he stopped breathing several times and needed several interventions to help. This little guy is strong and a fighter but we all need a bit of help every once in a while and right now Benjamin needs all the prayers we can send up for him.

Thanks for your commitment to pray.
